oklahoma johnny blue

i first heard oklahoma johnny blue play in okc many moons ago.  the music was pure and moved me profoundly. around the same time, he went to nashville.  however, johnny blue could not or would not fit into the box down in music town.  after that, i lost touch with him.  a few years ago i got a strong desire to try and find johnny.  it wasn’t easy.  had i imagined him or does he just prefer to operate under the radar?  with dogged perseverance and patience—i stumbled onto him once more.  i was thrilled to hear the pure music again.  it seemed i never would—thank GOD.

johnny was extremely reluctant but i so wanted to record his sound and share it with others.  after his brush with the music business, he said, “i got no business in the business,” and he pulled back.  he was not very hip to the new tech stuff and i explained we could put oklahoma johnny blue out to the world now without getting permission from anyone.  he considered the possibilities. after some coaxing and in spite of his doubts, he agreed to present one pure track just to see what happens.  he is big on “the POWER of ONE.” he said, “if folks can’t dig screwed why would they want more?”
